I live in Maple Ridge, which means when somebody in the Willowridge community calls I really am just minutes away. I’m happy to be the Willowridge resident plumber!
These houses are all much the same age, and it shows.
Willow Park and Maple Ridge were developed in the 1960s and 70s. That gives them a particular set of problems, and after more than a decade of servicing them, I can usually make a fair guess at what’s wrong before I’ve taken my boots off.
Aging shut-off valves
There’s still a lot of original pipework in these beautiful homes, and that often means original shut-off valves. Remember, the most important shut-off valve in your house is the main shut-off, and if it’s original to the home there’s a good chance it’s very difficult to turn off in an emergency.
Copper and cast iron drain lines
Over sixty years of mucky water running through them means they are often fouled up with grease and sludge. We perform lots of drain calls in Willowridge, and the kitchen sink drain line is the usual suspect.
Furnaces past 25 years
At Accent we’re big believers in “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. However, it’s a fine line between letting your 25 year old furnace chug along and waking up very cold in the middle of December because it peacefully passed away in the night. When it comes to furnaces, it’s better to be proactive rather than reactive.
Tree roots in sewer lines
Roots find leaking joints in old sewer lines, get in where the water is, and then keep growing. At this point you either manage them, or permanently deal with them by installing a liner down your sewer pipe.
