Hot water tanks and tankless units. Straight answers on which one is best for you.

Atmospheric, Power Vented or tankless/on demand. We fit all three, we repair all three, and we’ll help you choose which best suits your needs and your budget.

Is tankless worth it?

Honestly, I think everyone in Calgary would have one if it weren’t for the price tag.

They’re fantastic. Hot water on demand is a game changer. No more waiting around for the tank to heat back up because the kids have used the lot. It’s a genuine creature comfort and people who have one don’t go back.

However, it’s roughly three times the price of an atmospheric tank.

That’s the whole conversation. If the budget’s there, you’ll be glad you did it. If it isn’t, a standard tank will do you fine and we’ll fit you a good one without another word about it.

A tankless water heater installed by Accent Plumbing and Heating

Three kinds of hot water and what separates them…

Atmospheric Tank

The standard one, vented up the chimney. Cheapest to buy, cheapest to install and an average life expectancy of 10 years.

Power Vent Tank

Same idea as an Atmospheric but instead of venting up the chimney, this tank has a blower motor that pushes the exhaust gases out the side of your house. Most modern houses have this type of tank.

Tankless

No tank at all, just a neat little white box that bolts to the wall. Turn on a hot faucet and you’ve got hot water for as long as that faucet stays open.

We repair, replace and service all three.
